There are several public meeting to have your voice heard on the
Broadway issue. Probably the most important are City Council meetings
and Public Works committee meetings.
The way things generally work in our local Missoula government
is that an issue or resolution is requested by a council member
to be on a committee agenda. If it passes through the committee,
then it goes to the full council for a public hearing and/or council
vote.
The Public Works committee is the committee that is revisiting
the Broadway project. They generally meet from 2:05 pm to 3
pm on Wednesdays at City Hall (435 Ryman). Click http://www.ci.missoula.mt.us/cityclerk
and then click on 'Committee Schedule' on the left hand side for
meeting times and agendas of committees.
If the project is to be discussed at committee, it will be on the
agenda (unless rules are suspended which does happen), and it is
important for people to speak or at least be present. Even if the
project is not on the agenda, it is still important to speak to
the issue. Public comment is almost always first on the agenda.
While 3 minutes is the general time limit, lately there have been
up to 15 minute presentations by the public on the Rattlesnake sewer
issue.
City Council meets Mondays at 7pm at City Hall, and items will
be listed on their agenda to be discussed. Public comment is taken
at the time that the agenda item comes up, or at the end of the
meeting for non-agenda items. Click http://www.ci.missoula.mt.us/cityclerk
and then click on 'E-Packets' for City Council agendas.
Two other places to make comments or to follow transportation issues
in Missoula:
Transportation Technical Advisory Committee (TTAC) meets
the first Thursday of the month from 10am to 11:30am in courthouse
rm. 201.
Transportation Policy Coordinating Committee (TPCC) meets
the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 1:30pm to 3:00pm in courthouse
rm. 201.
Email secretary Bobbi Day
to be added to the email list for both TTAC and TPCC meetings.
